Actress: Now that I’ve seen The Last Station, I can re-post this category with all five actresses rated: - Meryl Streep (Julie and Julia). Anyone who has seen footage of the real Julia Childs knows what a brilliant job Streep did in bringing this character to the screen. It towers so much over anything else in this category that it’s my easy pick for favourite performance in this category.
- Helen Mirren (The Last Station). I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the two elder stateswomen of movie acting are at the top of this list, as they both bring so much class and talent to everything they do. Sure, Gabourey and Carey are good as well, but they still have much to learn from the veterans. Mirren brings so much to the role of the over-the-top, attention-seeking, but severely wounded, Sofya that you genuinely feel for her as she is being betrayed.
- Gabourey Sidibe (Precious Based On the Novel “Push” By Sapphire). A fantastic debut performance from Gabby ranks third in my opinion. The emotion she wrenches from the character is amazing and daring.
- Carey Mulligan (An Education). Another great breakout performance, but ranks slightly less on the emotion scale than Sidibe’s. (It resembles Audrey Hepburn’s Oscar-winning performance in Roman Holiday – good, cute, but not deserving of the award (I believe Deborah Kerr should have won out of that set of nominees, for From Here To Eternity, but I digress..))
- Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side). A distant fifth. Just because it’s Bullock’s best ever performance (which it is) doesn’t mean it’s one of the year’s best performances (which it isn’t), people.

Quentin Tarantino is eyeing a romantic comedy for his next film project - because he's convinced he could revolutionise the cheesy genre.
The filmmaker, who was nominated for the Best Director Oscar for Inglourious Basterds, is best known for helming action-packed and violent films including Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs - but he insists he'd love to try his hand at romance.
He tells Film.com, "I'd love to make a romantic comedy and take it out of the ghetto it's been exiled to.
"I have done love stories, they've just been in my other movies. True Romance's title was not ironic. Sure, James Gandolfini almost beats Patricia Arquette to death and she has to blow him away with a shotgun but that doesn't mean it's not romantic. It just has to be done my way and I think people want me to do it my way."

Tbh, I think Jackie Brown is a great romance movie.

Zenescope Entertainment has officially announced they have obtained the comic book and graphic novel publishing rights to the television property CHARMED (1998-2006) created by Constance M. Burge from Spelling Entertainment, under license from CBS Consumer Products.
The comic book publisher, known for beautiful, sultry and strong female characters, has now added three more to the mix. The ultra-popular CHARMED television series aired for eight seasons on The WB network and averaged more than 4 million viewers throughout its run.
Zenescope's comic book series will feature a brand new storyline which picks up where the television series left off. The story follows the Halliwell sisters, a beautiful trio descended from a line of powerful but good witches, as they battle against evil beings in modern day San Francisco.
Attached to write the new comic book series is author Paul Ruditis, who has written several Charmed novels such as Leo Rising (with Constance M. Burge) and As Puck Would Have It. Co-writing with Ruditis will be Raven Gregory, writer of the acclaimed Wonderland trilogy published by Zenescope. Renowned artist Dave Hoover (Captain America, The Wanderers) will be providing interior illustrations for the series.
"The key to this series success is to strike a nice balance in creating a brand new, intriguing storyline for fans of the television show while also not alienating Zenescope and comic book readers who haven't really followed it before but might want to now that it's a comic," said Zenescope Editor-in-Chief Ralph Tedesco. "The great thing is that Paul and Raven have done just that with this story arc. Anybody will be able to pick up this series and follow it whether or not they ever watched the show before. Moreover, fans of the show are going to be thrilled when they see where this story goes."
Issue #0 is scheduled for a June release with issue #1 to debut at Comic Con International in San Diego this July.

In a swank Santa Monica hotel overlooking the Pacific Ocean this weekend, Miley Cyrus spoke to reporters about her upcoming film, The Last Song — the latest romantic weepie from best-selling author Nicholas Sparks, and the first for which he also wrote the screenplay. Also a first for Sparks: Song was conceived and specifically written for Cyrus, who was looking for a project to help her break out of Hannah Montanadom and graduate to more mature roles.
“It’s interesting to leave my security blanket behind. It was such a huge deal in so many kids’ lives,” Cyrus said about the upcoming Hannah Montana finale. But as for revisiting the character in another film, she made it clear where she stands. “[Hannah’s] wig is,” she whistles, “out. One will be in a museum, and one will be… burned, or something.”
I admitted to having developed a guilty pleasure addiction to her Twitter feed, and went into Miley tweet withdrawal when she abruptly pulled the plug in October with a message reading, “FYI Liam doesn’t have a Twitter and he wants ME to delete mine with good reason.” (Liam, or course, refers to her Song co-star and now boyfriend, handsome Aussie discovery Liam Hemsworth.) So what, exactly, was that reason?
“I was kind of, like, tired of telling everyone what I’m doing,” Cyrus told Movieline. “I hate when I read things and celebrities are complaining like, ‘I have no personal life.’ I’m like, well that’s because you write everything that you’re doing.”
“So I was that person who was like, ‘I’m so sad. I have no real, normal life, everyone knows what I’m doing.’ And I’m like, well that’s my own fault because I’m telling everyone,” Cyrus said. “And then I’d tweet, ‘I’m here,’ and I’d wonder why a thousand fans are outside the restaurant. Well, hello, I just told them. So I’m just, like, kind of thinking doesn’t really make a lot of sense. Everything I’m saying is not really going with what I’m putting on the internet.
Asked if the change has been for the better, Cyrus took a moment to consider, then said, “I’m a lot less on my phone, I’m a little bit more social. I have a lot more real friends as opposed to friends who are on the internet who I’m talking to — which is like not cool, not safe, not fun and most likely not real. I think everything is just better when you’re not so wrapped up in [the internet].”
“I just think it’s kind of lame,” Cyrus continued. “I feel like I hang out with my friends and they’re so busy taking pictures of what they’re doing and putting them on Facebook that they’re not really enjoying what they’re doing. You’re going to look back and have a million pictures, but you’re not going to be in any of them. Because you’re not having fun, you’re too busy clicking away. So I think just enjoy the moment you’re in, and stop telling people about it. Just enjoy it.”
Does she realize she sounds like a mom when she says stuff like that?
“Yes, I do,” she answered, smiling. “I’m telling kids, don’t go on the internet, it’s dangerous, it’s not fun, it wastes your life, and you should be outside playing sports or something.”

Sony Corp has reached a deal with Michael Jackson's estate that could be worth as much as $250 million, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday, citing people familiar with the situation.
The report said the deal, coming months after Jackson's death, is the most lucrative recording contract ever signed. It guarantees the estate at least $200 million, according to the newspaper's web site, and involves 10 albums over seven years.
The deal will combine a mix of previously unreleased songs and new packages of familiar ones, according to the report.
Sony has sold about 31 million of Jackson's albums worldwide since his death on June 25, the report said. It added that the advances Sony will pay are to be offset by sales of albums as well as revenue generated by licensing Jackson's music.
Sony's deal with the estate retroactively covers the soundtrack album to "This Is It." It also covers a number of other releases, some of which have been planned and others that still must be determined, according to the Wall Street Journal.
One album of previously unreleased songs is likely to hit stores before the end of this year, and another collection is due out later, it said.

TMZ has confirmed the Michael Jackson estate has signed the biggest deal ever in music -- worth up to $250 million with a guarantee of $200 million. The estate made the deal with Sony Music Entertainment. According to the Associated Press, the contract is for 10 projects over seven years. One album will debut in November, which contains never-before released recordings. We're told Jackson left enough material for at least three albums of fresh material.A source tells TMZ the royalty rate on foreign sales is the key to the deal -- and 2/3 of the sales of MJ records traditionally have been outside the U.S. And we're told Sony gets a two-year extension for the right to distribute the Michael Jackson catalog -- to 2017. The deal was brokered by John Branca and John McClain, executors of the MJ estate. SOURCE

On Saturday Dannii Minogue greeted fans whilst proudly showed off her growing baby bump when arrived for the start of ‘Australia’s Got Talent’ auditions in Melbourne, Australia.
The 5 month pregnant star – who appears to have committed herself to finding talent – looked stunning wearing a purple furry Willow dress which was accented with a black belt which sat just above her bump.
Her look was paired with black knee-high boots, large statement earrings and nail polish which matched her dress.
Dannii was the most stylish judge on the X Factor last year, and I’m sure she’s going to impress us with her maternity style.
Dannii will continue to work right up until the final of Australia’s Got Talent at the end of April before she gives birth to her first child in July. source

Paul Schneider, who plays city planner Mark Brendanawicz on Parks and Recreation, will be leaving the show, co-creator and executive producer Mike Schur tells the LA Times. Schneider, the show’s ever-patient straight man and boyfriend to Rashida Jones’ Ann Perkins, will depart this season, but may return in the future.
“In the wake of Bright Star and winning a lot of awards,” says Schur, “Paul now has this film career that is just taking off in a big way. And the movie opportunities he’s getting are incredibly cool, interesting movies, not the summer blockbuster movies that can be scheduled around TV actors when they need to be… But the goal and the aim is to have him come back as soon as his schedule permits and as soon as the arcs we’re writing call for it.”
“He’s not going to be killed in some weird accident,” Schur promises.
As previously reported, Adam Scott and Rob Lowe are poised to join the P&R cast. SOURCE
Also, if any of you are fans of Aziz Ansari, who plays Tom Haverford on the show, he is currently twittering while watching Twilight and it is super funny.

Early last month, we rhetorically asked, “What are Michel Gondry and Björk building in there?” A question inspired by an exciting, yet über-cryptic, tidbit in an Entertainment Weekly Q&A with the French director. All we honestly knew at the time was that — as Gondry offered — “it’s very undefined, so it’s hard to give more precision.” </p>
The Playlist caught up with the director/writer/genius at SXSW this week, however, and wrangled another choice quote from the man for us to obsess over. Now the project sounds a tad more, um, defined: “We have a very ambitious project, a sort of scientific musical,” said Gondry. “[It’s a movie], but maybe more for museums. Like a 40 minute IMAX project in 3D.”
That rules out an Icelandic venture capital endeavor, Science of Sleep sequel, or Björk cameo in The Green Hornet, sure, but a “scientific musical” is a better fit for the pair behind such profound prior work in the music video genre, I’d say.

Add Channing Tatum to the list of names of actors being considered for the role of Captain America.
Tatum now joins Wilson Blethel and Mike Vogel, who have screen-tested, plus Chris Evans, who has read for the part. Marvel is also still keen on Garrett Hedlund.
At this stage, Tatum, who just wrapped filming on the Steven Soderbergh action flick “Knockout,” has only been approached for the role and has not seen a script. The actor played Duke in “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra,” but despite that movie doing modestly at the box-office, fanboy reaction was muted and its viability as a franchise is set on neutral.
Tatum certainly has the heft for Captain America, but can he play the 98-pound weakling alter ego Steve Rogers was before taking the super-serum which turns him into a perfect human specimen? This could be Tatum’s chance to pull a “Machinist” -- Christian Bale lost 60 pounds for the role which, while attracting some heat from health groups, received acclaim for his performance in that movie.
Casting for other roles in the Captain America movie is just as hot.
Hugo Weaving’s deal is still being worked on, though not much movement has occurred since last week.
And the search is on for the female lead. Details for the part are being kept secret for now but it is rumored to be his flame Betsy Ross (ironically, named after the woman who is credited with creating the American flag). Keira Knightley was approached last week but the studio is also looking at other actresses.

It’s been nearly three years since that earnest smiley genderqueer firefighter first entered our lives via infamous ‘reality’ television program A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila. Dani Campbell was our friendly “futch” ally in a cast populated by violent, alcoholic, hypersexual human-like creatures, and we were subsequently impressed when Dani made it to the final round as the last lady standing. She didn’t win, but that was fine. Maybe you even wanted her to lose, because by that point either you were blind or you’d developed a massive star-crush on Dani Campbell. If it wasn’t for Dani, you told your friends, you wouldn’t be watching that terribly offensive trainwreck of a show to begin with. She was smarter than the other girls! Or maybe you wanted her to lose because you knew she was cooler than that show.
